Jo and Andy chose their wedding day very wisely as the day before and the day after it was raining. The ceremony took place in St Mary Magdalen Church in Sheet – unfortunately I was not allowed to take photos during the wedding service but I managed to sneak a few in when the vicar wasn’t looking. The wedding reception was at The Manor Barn in Buriton – it is a beautiful wedding venue in a picturesque village in Hampshire. Everyone was very happy and relaxed and I enjoyed sharing the day with Jo, Andy and little Lucy. I must say that the desserts looked fabulous – huge portions of chocolate mousse but as usual I was so focused on taking pictures that I didn’t get to try any….probably for the best considering my expanding waistline.

Jo & Andy’s Wedding at the Manor Barn in Buriton
Marie & Steve’s Wedding, beware of the people with hats!
Marie and Steve got married in the All Saints Church in Catherington. The inside looks very atmospheric with all its stain glass windows, but as so often with these lovely places it was quite a challenge in terms of the available light. Marie and Steve had chosen a most unusual wedding venue – in a school library – but it wasn’t just any old library but the one at Ditcham Park School in Hampshire with beautiful wood panelling and huge windows – a photographers dream!. The lively guests were all enjoying themselves along with canapés and jazz music – my favourite. One particular group seemed to enjoy themselves even more by swapping hats – beware, men in hats can look very attractive (and obviously give some nice opportunities for photography). We managed to dodge the rain and think I managed some beautiful images of Marie and Steve.
Ahh yes, and at every wedding there are always people who are camera shy but I get them in the end (you know who you are)!

Vicky & Ben’s Wedding at The Barn at Bury Court, Sussex
The Barn at Bury Court in Surrey is a wonderful wedding venue and no doubt a great place to do some exciting wedding photography. Considering the poor weather we had Monday to Thursday is seems a gift that Friday was so nice. Not that you cannot do good wedding photography in the rain but not being flushed away makes life a bit easier. My day started with the bride and bridesmaids preparation. When I arrived I found Vicky in yellow and with lots of curlers in her hair and for me as a wedding photographer it is always fascinating to witness (and photograph) the transformation into a stunning bride with beautiful hair, dress and a happy smile. And the boys? well, mostly relaxed and cool and pretending to be quite pragmatic about the day (in fact just trying to hide their excitement!).
The ceremony was emotional and there was lots of cheering after Vicky and Ben were announced husband and wife. Ben was all the way through the day very professional until he got a tiny thing muddled up during his speech when he addressed his newly married wife as his beloved husband!!! You can imagine the roar of laughter in the room – I nearly dropped my camera… A great wedding and I’m sure all had a fantastic time.

Kathryn and John Wedding Photography, Petersfield, Hampshire
What a great day I had photographing Kathryn and John’s wedding. We started out at the hairdressers and as doing a bride’s hair always takes longer than expected it was then a mad dash for Kathryn to get her dress on. She was then escorted through the town to St Peter’s Church by David (an eccentric gentleman wearing a sparkly suit!). After the service Kathryn didn’t want to travel in a common Rolls Royce and instead chose a bright red double decker bus all decked out in wedding ribbons. With balloons, blazing loud music and a very happy crowd we all jolted our way down to Portsmouth for the reception. The party started and more guests arrived but as always I managed to drag them away for an exciting photo session in the back streets of Portsmouth.
